blog introduction

Hi there! I figured the best way to start off this blog would be with an introduction post, so here we go!

You can call me Alex or Boggy; either works. I’m a 26yr old transmasc artist living and working in Virginia. I spend most of my time making art and/or hanging out with my lovely fiance Charlie and our cat Maisie.

Our Lady Maisie of The Cone

(she’s okay and out of her cone now, I just don’t have any good post-cone pics yet)

As you may have seen from my home page, I make a few different kinds of art. At the moment, I’d say I’m primarily an Illustrator and Fiber Artist. In particular, I have recently fallen in love with surface design and quilting. I’ve also been working on improving my Graphic Design and Bookbinding. Oh, and I can’t forget to mention linocut printing!

Honestly, if there’s a craft (in the traditional sense of the word), chances are I’ve at least thought of giving it a try. Right now I’m saving up to purchase some more supplies for stained glass work, which I’ve done a bit of and absolutely loved. My instructor gifted me a gorgeous sheet of glass for my birthday and I can’t wait to make it into something even more wonderful.

I’ve been a witch and pagan for the better part of a decade, so you should be seeing some of that in my blog as well. Most of the spirituality content I post will still contain art in some way shape or form, as creation is an important part of my practice. Altar craft is something I take great pride in, and as a result I often make or upcycle items for my altars. I plan to post blogs (maybe DIYs too?) detailing these projects as I make them.

Some of my other interests include paleontology, bogs, archaeology/ancient history, entomology, bird watching, any genre of music I can get my hands on, and floral design. I’m professionally taught when it comes to ancient history, bogs, and floral design, but I’m always learning more. Basically, if it’s art or research based it’s pretty likely I can find at least one thing about it that I absolutely love.

All of that said— I hope that my blog can be a place that I can connect with people and share useful bits of my art journey with you all. I used to do a lot of blogging in the pagan sphere of things, and I’ve honestly missed it. I’ll catch you in a day or two when I post my next blog!

Wishing you all a creative and fulfilling day.
